It’s the 2-3 Adelaide Strikers facing the 1-5 Sydney Thunder at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday night, with both teams running out of time to save their BBL 15 campaigns.

This shapes as a poor match-up between two sides likely to finish seventh and eighth once BBL 15 wraps up.
The Strikers are notoriously bad when favoured, losing 16 of 26 matches from that position and 12 of 21 when favoured at home.
The Thunder have simply been bad. They sit bottom of the ladder at 1-5 and have failed to capitalise on fair luck at the toss, winning three of six flips but still losing twice from the usually advantageous chasing position. They also lose key all-rounder Shadab Khan to international duty after an impressive six-game stint.
Waiting for the toss and backing the team batting second looks the strongest play. Chasing teams have won 17 of 24 matches this season, while the Thunder have lost five straight away games batting first and the Strikers have dropped six of their last seven when setting a total.
The Strikers hold a narrow 12-10 edge in the head-to-head, including five wins from the last six meetings. Even so, they remain hard to trust as favourites, making the chasing trend the safest angle again.
Best Bet
Matt Short at Adelaide Oval remains one of the most reliable bets in the Big Bash. He has scored 25+ runs in 16 of his 21 innings at the venue and continues to look a clear class above at this level.
Short fell just short of this line with 19 last time out, but his earlier half-century this season showed he is still timing the ball beautifully. He’ shapes as a strong chance to go big again.
He’s also tonned up at home in two of his last three seasons and won’t get a better chance for a monster score this season too. Worth a play for triple figures.
Value Bet
Sams has an outstanding record at Adelaide Oval, taking 12 wickets from six matches. He has been the top wicket-taker in five of his last six games at the venue and has led the Thunder’s wicket tally in their past two matches.
