National stars return for both the Strikers and Scorchers on Sunday at the Adelaide Oval, with each team locked in a tight battle for finals positions.
Head to Head
The Scorchers look the stronger squad on paper, but there’s little value backing them at the price. Simply siding with the chasing team looks the strongest head-to-head angle.
This is not a great spot for Perth. They’ve lost five of their last seven as away favourites and six of their last nine at Adelaide Oval when favoured.
The Strikers, meanwhile, have won 19 of 28 matches as home underdogs, including nine of their last 10 when batting second in that role.
The home side is boosted by the return of Alex Carey, who boasts a strong record at this level. The Scorchers regain Josh Inglis, but that is offset by the loss of the in-form Joel Paris, leaving their usually potent bowling attack looking a little thin.
With the team batting second winning nine of the last 13 matches at this venue, the chasing team shapes as the play once again.
Best Bet
After seeing Warner and Khawaja go large over the past 24 hours, Carey can be the next Test star to post a big score. He’s cleared 25+ runs in four of his last five home innings against the Scorchers.
Value Bet
Matt Short at the Adelaide Oval remains one of the strongest betting angles in the BBL. The opener has scored a half-century in six of his last 11 matches at the venue and is worth a look for a century as well.
