BBL 15 Tips – Adelaide Strikers v Brisbane Heat

The 1-2 Adelaide Strikers square off with the 2-2 Brisbane Heat for the second time in four days, this time at Adelaide Oval.

The Heat narrowly accounted for the Strikers on Saturday and present as good value again here.

On that occasion, Brisbane set a moderate total of 179 which the Strikers fell seven runs short of. Batting second has typically been an advantage in BBL 15, so Adelaide had conditions working in their favour.

The numbers point to another upset. Brisbane have won all seven matches as underdogs at Adelaide Oval, while the Strikers have lost 16 of 25 when favoured.

Both sides look to be trending toward the bottom of the table. While each has solid batting depth, the bowling units appear thin, especially with Pakistani international Shaheen Shah Afridi ruled out for the remainder of the tournament for the Heat. Jack Wildermuth is the only bowler from either side to sit inside the top 15 wicket-takers.

This game should come down to which batting group can best capitalise on a flat deck against a weak bowling attack. The Strikers are averaging just 162 runs per game so far, while the Heat have averaged 198.5.

Back the visitors to have too much firepower with the bat and cause the upset again.

This price is wildly out of line with the data. The Heat are averaging 10.25 sixes per match this season, the second-highest mark in the competition, while the Strikers sit dead last at just 4.33 per game.

Even on Adelaide Oval’s flat deck, this gap is enormous. Brisbane’s batting group is built to clear the ropes, while Adelaide have consistently struggled to do damage in the air. If this turns into another run-fest, the Heat are very likely to win the sixes count.

Value Bet

Matt Renshaw
Player of the Match

The former Australian opener has enjoyed a superb start to BBL 15, leading the run-scoring with 196 from four innings, including a century. He also averages 51 across eight matches against the Strikers, making this a very solid price if the Heat get on top.
