BBL 14 Tips – Sydney Thunder v Melbourne Stars

Marcus Stoinis

It could be curtains for the winless Stars if they cannot beat the 1-1 Sydney Thunder in Canberra on Saturday night.

Sydney Thunder
Head to Head

There is no case to be made for the hopeless Stars, who have now lost seven straight matches.

Their hopes haven’t been helped by them ‘hosting’ a home game at Manuka Oval, a venue at which the Thunder have won five of their last seven and four of their last five as favourites.

The Stars will be bolstered by Beau Webster’s return, but both Tom Curran and Tom Rogers have been ruled out. Sam Konstas and Nathan McAndrew have been replaced by batter Matthew Gilkes and fast bowler Liam Hatcher in the Thunder squad.

The Thunder have rolled the Strikers (at this venue) and taken the undefeated Sixers to the last ball so far this season. That’s terrific form facing up against the competition’s worst team.

Batting second will be an advantage, with chasing teams winning 10 of 13 in BBL 14, but either way, the Thunder look a good thing here.

Best Bets

Sam Billings
20+ Runs

Billings loves Manuka, scoring 20+ runs in six straight knocks at this venue. Looks a great anchor for a same game multi.

Value Bet

Sam Harper
Hi Bat Stars

Harper has had a good start to BBL 14, with two 45+ run scores in his last three knocks, top scoring for his team on both ocassions.

Same Game Multi

Thunder H2H / Billings 20+ Runs / Harper 10+ Runs / Green 1+ Wickets
