BBL 14 Tips – Sydney Thunder v Hobart Hurricanes

Matthew Wade

It’s a battle for top spot on the Big Bash table in Sydney tonight when the Thunder host the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes should continue their winning run with a win over the undermanned Thunder.

The ‘Cane Train is rolling in BBL 14, winning four straight games including a huge 50-run win over tournament favourite, the Sixers.

The injury-plagued Thunder will get some reinforcement in the form of Sam Konstas, who will return to the top of the order. However, their middle order is still a mess, with Jason Sangha, Cam Bancroft and Daniel Sams all still missing, on top of spinner Tanveer Sangha.

They were incredibly brave against the Heat on Sunday, only going down with seven balls remaining, but that required a Herculean effort from the formerly-retired Dan Christian on top of a David Warner 50.

The Thunder don’t have the depth to compete with the in-form and settled Hurricanes; however, it’s worth waiting for the toss to bet, with teams batting second winning seven straight games and 19 of 24 overall this season.

Best Bet

Nathan Ellis
Over 1.5 Wickets

Ellis is a star at this level and has a great record against the Thunder, taking nine wickets in his last three games against them. He’s also taken 2+ in four of his last five on the road.

Value Bet

David Warner
Hi Bat - Thunder

Warner is an excellent bet to top score for the Thunder, winning this market in three straight games. Konstas will provide some competition but he has very little experience against the Hurricanes’ opening bowlers in Meredith and Ellis.

Same Game Multi

Hurricanes H2H / Warner 10+ Runs / Ellis & Meredith 1+ Wickets
