The Hurricanes and Thunder are scheduled to meet for the second time in three days on Friday night. Hopefully there is some more luck with the weather in Hobart.
Head to Head
These teams were due to meet on Wednesday night but persistent rain forced the match to be abandoned without a ball being bowled. Therefore nothing much has changed from that preview with the Hurricanes an even better bet at home to continue their winning run over the depleted Thunder.
The ’Cane Train is rolling in BBL 14, riding a four-game winning streak, including a commanding 50-run victory over tournament favourites, the Sixers.
The injury-smashed Thunder will welcome Sam Konstas back at the top of the order, but their middle order remains in disarray. Jason Sangha, Cam Bancroft, and Daniel Sams are still sidelined, along with spinner Tanveer Sangha.
Despite a gutsy performance against the Heat last Sunday, featuring a David Warner half-century and a heroic effort from the formerly retired Dan Christian, the Thunder fell short with seven balls to spare.
The in-form and stable Hurricanes should prove too strong. That said, teams batting second have won seven straight games and 19 of 25 overall this season, so be wary if the Thunder chase.
Best Bet
Ellis is a great bet for a couple of poles given his terrific record against the Thunder. He’s taken nine wickets in his last three games against them and at least one wicket in 26 of 30 games on the Apple Isle.
Value Bet
The former Australian opener has top scored for the Thunder in three straight games, and even though Sam Konstas will return in this game, he has very little experience against the Hurricanes’ strong opening bowlers.
