BBL 14 Tips – Adelaide Strikers v Melbourne Stars

Matt Short

Two teams in search of their first wins of the season meet at the Adelaide Oval on Friday night when the Strikers host the Stars.

The Team That Bats Second
Head to Head

You should probably just wait for the toss and back the team who bats second. The chasing team has won all five games this season, the Stars have lost 10 straight when they bat first and the Strikers have lost their last five batting first.

Outside of that, the Stars will get Glenn Maxwell and Ben Duckett into their XI for this clash, which is a huge boost for a team that still looks off the pace this season. The Strikers also get a huge in with English vice captain Ollie Pope joining the squad, although their fast bowling recruit Fabian Allen has been ruled out for the season with a shoulder injury.

The Strikers hold a 7-3 record over the Stars at the venue, but seriously, just wait for the coin toss.

Best Best

Matt Short
Over 24.5 Runs

The Strikers skipper is just money at the Adelaide Oval, scoring 25+ in seven of his last eight home matches. He can be bet for top run scorer and 50+ too, having notched up a half century in three of his last four at home. Player of the match appeals too if the Strikers chase.

Value Bet

Jake Weatherald
40+ Runs

Weatherald started the new season where he finished last season, notching up his third 40+ score in his last four knocks. Expect at least one of the Strikers openers to get away against this average Stars bowling contingent, so he’s a nice saver if you back Short as well.
