BBL 14 Tips – Adelaide Strikers v Hobart Hurricanes

Matthew Wade

The 1-1 Hurricanes head to Adelaide on Friday night to take on the 1-2 Strikers.

Adelaide Strikers
Head to Head

Home sides are dominating BBL 14 and the numbers suggest the Strikers should dominate here too.

Eight of the last nine BBL matches have been won by the home side and the Strikers have won four straight against the Hurricanes at the Adelaide Oval. The Hurricanes are horrendous travellers too, losing 13 of their last 15 matches on the mainland.

These sides look pretty evenly matched elsewhere, each possessing a big-hitting top six but shallow bowling, particularly on the spin front. Early wickets will be key for both teams.

Keep an eye on the toss, with 10 of the last 12 BBL matches won by the chasing team, but the edge goes with the home side here.

Best Bets

Matt Short
Over 23.5 Runs

The player of the series for the last two seasons is yet to fire in BBL 14 but Matt Short gets his favourite match-up here. He’s passed 25 runs in each of his last six against the Hurricanes and 50s in three of four against the Hurricanes at the Adelaide Oval. Worth a bet for player of the match too.

Value Bet

Ben McDermott
Most Runs Hurricanes

McDermott loves playing the Strikers, scoring 50s in three of his last four knocks against them, and has top scored for his team in his last two matches at Adelaide Oval.
