BBL 12 Tips – Sydney Thunder v Sydney Sixers

Alex Hales

There’s plenty on the line in the first Sydney derby of BBL 12 as the second-placed Sixers meet the third-placed Thunder at the Showgrounds.

Best Bet

Sydney Thunder
Head-to-head

The market is struggling to split the two Sydney teams for the derby but the home side look a strong play.

It’s been a remarkable turnaround for the Thunder following their horror start to the season, now winning four straight including a thumping victory over a very talented Hurricanes line-up and a rare win over the Scorchers in Perth – just the second loss the reigning champs have suffered in their last 19 games at Optus.

The Sixers, too, have been in terrific form, winning five of their last six. The quality of the opposition they’ve has been poor, however, as the magenta team haven’t played a top three ranked team in their last seven games.

While you can only beat who is in front of you, in a tight market and coming off a sensational win over the Scorchers, the Thunder look a good bet at home, where they’ve won six of their last seven as underdogs.

Next Best

James Vince
Over 23.5 Runs

After a slow start to the season, Vince has been brilliant for the Sixers, passing this runs line in five straight, including a 91* in his last dig against the Stars. This is the Englishman’s final BBL appearance for the season so he’ll be keen to go out with a big score.

Value Bet

Alex Hales
Top Thunder Batter

Hales also will be departing following this game and while he’s been boom or bust in BBL 12, his form at home is worth following. The opener has top scored in his last two games at home and in three of his last seven games at this venue. Like Vince, expect plenty of runs from Hales in his final appearance.
