Both the Stars and Hurricanes will be desperate for a win in Hobart to keep their BBL finals ambitions alive.
Best Bet
Keen to ride the Hurricanes’ curious home vs away run here.
Through eight games, Hobart have won each of their three home games and lost each of their five on the road.
The Stars also lose their most important player in Marcus Stoinis to a hamstring injury. This team is already low on match-winning talent, and while Matthew Wade will also miss for the ‘Canes, they have the batting depth to replace him while the Stars don’t with Stoin.
It’s pretty rare to get a team below $1.60 for a BBL match, but in this case its justified. The Stars are an awful T20 team and will likely suffer a big loss in Hobart.
Next Best
Jewell has been terrific for the ‘Canes since being added to the top of the line-up, scoring 20+ runs in four straight including two fifties. Expect another positive start from the young Tasmanian against a meek opening Stars bowling attack with Trent Boult now finished for the season.
Value Bet
After a slow start, McDermott is rolling in BBL 12, scoring a 50 in two of his last three knocks. He also has a great record at this venue, hitting a 50 in three of his last four innings here, and against the Stars, also making a half-century in three of his last four.
