BBL 12 Tips – Brisbane Heat v Perth Scorchers

The Scorchers head to Brisbane on Wednesday night to a face a Heat side which will be bolstered by some big inclusions.

Perth Scorchers
Head-to-head

It’s difficult to make a case against the Scorchers in this match-up as they’ve won seven of their last eight against the Heat, although they are at rock bottom odds.

The Heat have been struggling all season and sit in seventh place on the ladder with a 2-5 record but they get some massive inclusions for this game. Aussie Test trio Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw have all been named, replacing internationals Colin Munro and Sam Billings who have now finished their BBL stints. This is undoubtedly the strongest Heat squad of the season.

The Scorchers also recall Ashton Agar and Lance Morris who will bolster a bowling line-up still missing Jhye Richardson. The Heat hit a decent total of 171 against the Scorchers in Perth on Saturday (which the home team easily chased down) but with a stronger top six for Brisbane here, the visitors will need a tidy bowling effort.

The Heat been terrible at home, losing 11 of their last 13, so expect the Scorchers to grind out another win.

Usman Khawaja
Over 24.5 runs

Great to see Usie back in the Big Bash, this time for the Heat, as he’s such a consistent performer at this level. The Aussie Test opener has scored 20+ runs in four of his last five BBL innings and in three straight against the Scorchers. Coming off a big Test in Sydney, expect Khawaja to come out firing.

Value Bet

Cam Bancroft
Player of the Match

Coming off a player of the match performance against the Heat on Saturday, where he hit 76*, Bancroft is a great bet for a repeat performance. That was his second 40+ score in three BBL innings this season. He also thumped 164* in his last Shield innings at the Gabba before the summer break.
