Both the Strikers and Renegades are in need of a win to hold their spots in the top five in Adelaide on Tuesday night.
Best Bet
The Strikers are setting up for a big second half of the tournament which should result in a run at the BBL title. It will likely start with a win over the Renegades at home.
The Strikers arguably have the BBL’s strongest batting line-up, with Matt Short and Chris Lynn currently first and second for the golden bat. Their win over the Hurricanes was extraordinary, chasing down 229 – the highest BBL run chase of all-time – ending a four-match losing streak, three of which were on the road.
The Renegades have certainly improved this season, but four of their five wins have come against the bottom three teams. The Strikers are a step up in quality from the Stars and Hurricanes, who they’ve beaten in their last two games.
The home side lose Rashid Khan for this game, but he’d only taken three wickets in his last six games. The Strikers have won eight of their last nine games at home and should notch up another victory over the Renegades.
Next Best
Lynn has rediscovered his best form since moving to Adelaide, averaging 40 per innings and 1.4 sixes per game. He’s hit a six in eight of his last nine games against the Renegades and while he’s playing a more conservative style than before, he should be good for at least one maximum against an average bowling attack.
Value Bet
Just have to ride Matt Short’s heater at the Adelaide Oval. The Strikers’ skipper has scored half centuries in four of his last five games at home, including his remarkable last-ball 100 last time out against the Hurricanes. With Khan gone, he’ll be utilised even more for his handy spin bowling.
