Best Bet
Think I’ll continue to chop and change between Cripps and Serong based on whether their team wins each round.
A monster game from Cripps who will be fighting for three votes with teammate Sam Walsh and Melbourne’s Christian Petracca.
If he manages to secure three in this, he could be well on his way to a second Brownlow Medal. Numbers remain on track with his 2022 season, so happy to continue to back the Blues’ skipper in.
Lay
Just getting too short for a player with his polling history now at that sub $4 price.
Solid game on the weekend from Heeney but failing to hit the scoreboard could be his undoing. Heeney has polled just once across his entire career when going goalless – Round 12 of 2017 where he had 31 disposals.
That was one of the two games across Heeney’s career that he’s polled in where he’s kicked less than 2 goals.
Understand the Swan is in a predominant midfield role now, but we’ve seen the lack of polling history affect players in the past in the first half of a season. Teammate Chad Warner must now be considered a serious danger and great value at $20 – he’s one of three players in the competition averaging 24 disposals and 1.3 goals per game, along with Heeney and Bontempelli who are both considerably shorter prices.
Value Bet
Perfect example of someone that took some time for umpires to warm up to in a breakout season – Butters had some monster games during Port Adelaide’s huge start to 2023 but only managed 9 votes by Round 12.
But once the umpires took notice, Butters polled 18 votes in the last 11 rounds finishing equal 4th. In 2024, the Power star is putting together a better season which has clearly gone under the radar based on the $15 on offer.
Disposals, contested possessions and goals are all up for Butters this year and although he’s on 11 on our leaderboard in equal 5th, he could be as high as 14 votes on Brownlow night if they fall his way.
Great value considering Port Adelaide host Hawthorn and then face North Melbourne over the next fortnight.
