Best Bet

Andrew Brayshaw ($10.00)
Another game in the votes for Andrew Brayshaw but will likely be pipped by Patrick Cripps for the best on ground honours in Round 6.

Although we have Cripps overtaking Brayshaw on top of the Brownlow leaderboard, a clear trend has emerged at Carlton with 3-4 of their midfielders recording 30+ disposals each week making votes highly competitive. Along with this, with Carlton’s percentage below 100% perhaps we have overestimated the number of wins the Blues will record this season.

Competition for votes remains low at Fremantle emphasised by the Brownlow market. Despite being a 5-1 team that appears to be a potential top-four outfit this season, Caleb Serong is the next best chance at Fremantle according to the bookies, paying $151.

Lay

Clayton Oliver ($9.00)

Dominant in Sunday’s clash with the Tigers recording 41 disposals, Clayton Oliver has moved into outright fourth favourite with some bookies at $9, but like last week when discussing Christian Petracca’s chances this appears an almighty task.

Expect Clarry to poll the best on in Rounds 3 and 6 so far this season, but we’ve already seen him share votes with both Petracca and Max Gawn six rounds into the season with the three combining for 21.5 votes so far in 2022.

Ed Langdon continues to be a huge threat to both Oliver and Petracca’s chances with the wingman putting together a huge month of footy averaging 28 disposals while booting three goals from four games – this is three more possessions per game than Petracca and just one less goal over the same period.

Value Bet

Callum Mills ($18.00)

12 players in 2021 averaged at least one vote per game – Sydney’s Callum Mills was one of them, finishing with 18 votes. The Swans midfielder has had a huge fortnight with consecutive best on ground efforts, recording the most ranking points in a game against the Hawks in Round 6 off the back of 37 disposals, 11 marks, 5 tackles and a goal.

Although he hasn’t quite moved into the top-five leaderboard after Round 6, Mills is only 0.25 votes behind both Oliver and Lachie Neale.

Outside of Luke Parker and Isaac Heeney, there’s not a lot of competition for Mills with the latter slowing down after a hot start. A big Round 7 against the Lions could see Mills move into top-three contention.
