Three players in double figures feature in our top-five, including our best bet after Round 2.
Brownlow Leaderboard
| Player | Votes | Odds |
|---|---|---|
| 1. I.Heeney (Syd) | 8.25 | $13.00 |
| 2. T.Green (GWS) | 7.25 | $6.00 |
| 3. C.Serong (Fre) | 5.50 | $10.00 |
| 4. M.Rowell (GC) | 5.25 | $9.50 |
| 5. Z.Butters (PA) | 5.00 | $15.00 |
Best Bet
Will stick to my guns with Serong here backing up from last week when we had him as our best bet at $13.
Another huge performance from the Fremantle midfielder with Luke Jackson the only genuine threat to take the three – fortunately for Serong, Jackson is a ruckman.
Currently in third place on our leaderboard on 5.5 votes, but a game in hand compared to Heeney and the current Brownlow favourite, Tom Green. Plenty more threats to steal votes away from the current leaders at Sydney and GWS compared to the Dockers which makes Serong great value still in double figures.
Lay
Cannot believe Matt Rowell is still in single figures. He was our lay last week as well, but you may as well double down while he’s at this price.
Won’t be in the votes against the Bulldogs which sparked some serious concerns for the Suns on the road. Unsure whether they’ll win enough games while he’s competing with Touk Miller who appears back to his best, and of course last year’s heavy poller Noah Anderson.
Value Bet
Still love the $19 on offer for Patrick Cripps especially with Carlton facing North Melbourne next round, but the draw for the Swans is exceptional which means if Isaac Heeney keeps doing what he’s doing, he could be as short as $3 come Round 7.
The Swans face Richmond and West Coast before their bye in Round 5, and then take on the Suns in Sydney and Hawthorn – four games they should win.
Averaging 15 contested possessions per game from his 29 touches per week, Heeney’s new role in the midfield in the absence of Parker, Mills and Adams has really shone a light on the Swan, and although he might slow down in the second half of the season when these names return, in the meantime it’s worth taking the $13 on offer before the crunch comes in off the back of another four Swans wins.
