The injury-hit Bulldogs pulled off a brave win over North last week, but this is a massive step up in quality.
Footscray, as they’re known this week, ran out 16-point winners over the Roos, but the margin should have been closer – expected scoring had it at just four points due to North’s inaccuracy in front of the sticks.
The Dogs will again be without Bontempelli, Jones, Ugle-Hagan, and Treloar, making it unlikely they’ll challenge a Collingwood side that looked electric against Port last week.
After their Round 1 flop, the inclusion of Dan Houston and a fully fit Nick Daicos ignited the Pies, who stormed to a 91-point win at the MCG. They were particularly lethal on turnover, kicking an incredible 15.9 (99) from that source. That should worry the relatively inexperienced Dogs, who struggled to defend against the Roos, conceding over nine goals from turnover.
Collingwood have covered the line in their last five games at the MCG, while the ’Scray have failed to cover in five of their last seven at the venue.
This line looks far too small.
Same Game Multi
Tim Membrey looks right at home in a Collingwood jumper, kicking five goals in two games for the black and white.
Despite a slow start, Josh Daicos hit 25 again last week. He’s hit that mark in five straight games.
Tom Liberatore will again shoulder more of the midfield burden with Bont and Treloar out. He’s had 25+ touches in seven of his last eight against the Pies.
Value Bet
There were a lot of blowouts in Round 1 and this could easily be another. The Dogs conceded 97 points to North last week so the Pies could pile on plenty more.
