AFL Tips – Western Bulldogs v Carlton – Round 2 2022

Western Bulldogs v Carlton

Carlton will be looking to build on the momentum generated by a Round 1 upset win over Richmond.

Best Bet

Carlton +12.5 ($1.90)

The Dogs have been a bad play against the number as favourites at Marvel Stadium and a rejuvenated Carlton side should be able to keep things close or even cause an upset.

Since 2017, the Bulldogs have covered just 26% of the time as favourites in games at Marvel Stadium, and they have often been poor defensively, conceding an average of more than 80 points.

Carlton dominated the contest last week with the addition of Adam Cerra and George Hewett to their midfield rotation, Patrick Cripps back to his best and Matthew Kennedy winning clearances at will.

They will have to step up against a Dogs side that won the clearance battle against Melbourne last week, but the lack of efficiency at either end of the ground is a real concern for Luke Beveridge.

With an injury cloud over some key Bulldogs including Marcus Bontempelli, Carlton looks like an excellent bet with the two goal head start.

Same Game Multi

Carlton +12.5 / Adam Treloar Any Time Goal Scorer / Matthew Kennedy 25+ Disposals / Patrick Cripps 25+ Disposals ($5.50)

Treloar now has five goals from his last two games, while both Kennedy and Cripps had plenty of footy last week and should do so again against a Dogs team which has allowed good opposition players to run rampant.

Value Bet

Harry McKay 4+ Goals ($4.33)

McKay gas a good record against the Dogs having bagged four last year and three in a shortened game in 2020. With plenty of midfield supply he can feast against a Dogs side that lacks quality in the key defensive posts.
