AFL Tips – West Coast v Sydney – Round 5 2022

West Coast have a strong record as home underdogs.

Best Bet

West Coast +8.5 ($1.90)

Sydney have looked shaky to start 2022 and the Eagles at home have much more appeal.

West Coast was fortunate to beat Collingwood last week due to superior conversion, but they will welcome some key personnel back in Tim Kelly and Luke Shuey among others.

Being home underdogs is an usual situation for West Coast to be in, but they have usually responded well in this situation, having covered six out of eight times in this spot dating back to 2017, and that includes the Round 1 game this year where they had half a team against the Suns.

Sydney will miss Buddy Franklin, not just for the productivity that he generates, but that the Swans forwards all need to step up and play on tougher opponents in his absence.

The Swans just don’t look to be going that well. North pushed them all the way last week and they have been big beneficiaries of accurate kicking in their other games.

Sydney have also been questionable as road favourites, failing to cover in five out of six games in this spot last year.

Same Game Multi

West Coast +8.5/ P. Naish, L. Parker 20+ Disposals / W. Rioli 1+ Goals ($4.60)

Naish has been a real bright spot for West Coast, leading the Eagles for metres gained and having 20+ in the last three games. Parker went under 20 last week for the first time since Round 16 2020. He’ll bounce back this week and Rioli should be good for a goal.

Value Bet

Josh Kennedy 4+ Goals ($6.00)

Kennedy hasn’t been playing that well but still managed to bag three goals from five disposals last week. If the veteran forward can find form four or more looks highly possible.
