This isn’t the most appealing betting game with the underdog covering in each of the Giants’ last nine and West Coast being hard to trust, so the total is the play.

Five of seven Eagles games at Optus have gone over this year, averaging 179 total points. The two that didn’t involved Carlton and Essendon, whose games rank third and fourth lowest for scoring.

Giants games have been reasonably high-scoring too, averaging 163 points overall and jumping to 176 against bottom six teams.

While Adam Kingsley’s side remain contenders, they’re still vulnerable defensively. They concede the most points from stoppage and allow the fourth-highest rate of rebound 50s to become inside 50s.

We need two to tango to get a total over, and fortunately West Coast aren’t a bad offensive team when excluding games against the AFL’s best. They average 73 points a game against non-top six teams, which ranks them mid-table.

Four of the last five between these teams have gone over. Expect another.
