The final game of AFL Round 1 sees the Eagles hosting the Suns at Optus Stadium.

On paper, this should be an easy win for the Suns, but it’s hard to trust them on the road given their abysmal away record.
Damien Hardwick’s team was laughably bad away from home last year, winning and covering in just two of 11 games – one against wooden spooner Richmond and the other by a single point against Essendon.
Gold Coast didn’t look great in the pre-season, losing their final practice match at home to Sydney by 21 points, though an inaccurate 8.15 didn’t help their cause.
The Eagles scraped home against North Melbourne in their practice match, and while they’ll be without Elliot Yeo and Dom Sheed due to injury, the additions of Liam Baker, Jack Graham and Matt Owies add some important depth to this young side.
It’s just impossible to back the Suns on the road given their record, so take the Eagles to keep this close.
