The Swans were the hottest team in football after three rounds but cooled considerably before their bye. Can they bounce back against the Suns?
Best Bet
The early bye came at the right time for the Swans who can get things back on track here against the Suns.
After three rounds everything looked idyllic in the harbour city, with dominant wins over the Demons, Magpies and Bombers.
However, a loss to Richmond and a closer than expected win over West Coast have tempered enthusiasm around the Swans.
Both of those underwhelming performances can be attributed to a drop off in pressure, from third in weeks 1-3 before slipping to 16th in Round 4 and 12th in Round 5.
It’s concerning, but also something that the Swans have had the opportunity to address in their bye week.
The Suns aren’t a pushover, but they have a huge gap to the Swans in terms of age and experience. They have nine players with less than fifty games to their name, compared to the Swans two.
This showed up in the Suns non-competitive loss to the Dogs at Ballarat – their only true road game so far this season, while they also failed to cover the line in the Gather Round game against the Giants.
Expect Sydney to be too strong in this one.
Same Game Multi
For Sydney, Isaac Heeney is relishing his move into the midfield with at least 25 in every game this season.
Nick Blakey, the Lizard is having a great season and averaging well over 20 per game.
For the Suns, Sam Flanders is relishing his switch to half back where he has become a prime distributor of the ball as well as taking kick-in duties.
Value Bet
Sydney have a very wide spread of goalkickers. Through five games, they have eight players with five goals or more.
Not so the Suns, who are heavily dependent on Ben King. He has 14, Malcolm Rosas has eight and no one else has a goal per game.
Even if the Suns lose this game King is well capable of topping the goal scoring, as he has done in two of their five games.
