ANZAC Eve footy comes from the MCG with the Demons, who have dominated this rivalry of late, playing the Tigers.
Best Bet
The Tigers are short on class and experience and look ripe for another defeat at the hands of their MCG co-tenants.
This rivalry has certainly swung in recent years with the Dees dominating the Tigers. Since 2021 they have won all four games with the average margin of victory being 23 points.
It’s hard to see Richmond turning this around when they have so many of their good players in the stands. They welcome back Jacob Hopper and Dylan Grimes but without Tim Taranto, Dion Prestia, Tom Lynch, Noah Balta, Jack Ross and more, it is hard to see them competing against one of the better sides in the league.
In their defeat last time against West Coast the Tigers fielded 11 players with less than 50 games experience. The Dees are blooding youth as well, but still have a solid core of veterans do to the heavy lifting.
The Tigers are ranked dead last in clearance differential and third last for contested possession differential. That’s a big problem against a Demons side known for their strength in those areas, and that should have Clayton Oliver back to full health this week.
Chips in the Dees here.
Same Game Multi
Jack Viney circles Richmond games in the fixture ahead of time. He’s had 32, 30 and 26 in his last three against the Tigers. Max Gawn has only dropped below 15 in one game this season.
Nick Vlastuin has had 20 or more in four of his six games this year and intercept defenders are nearly always a good play against the Dees.
Value Bet
Harry Petty alternates between forward and defence but with Marty Hore coming back into the side he should be playing forward here. He bagged six when these sides played last year.
