AFL Tips – Richmond v Fremantle – Round 19 2022

No wonder Damien Hardwick hates coming to Marvel Stadium.

Fremantle
Win

Since Damien Hardwick famously remarked that he hates coming to Marvel Stadium, his Richmond side has only given him more reason to despise the domed venue.

That remark was made in the wake of a 4 point win in Round 9 2021, and since then the Tigers have lost all five games at Marvel, failing to cover the line in each.

Their most recent performance was perhaps their most miserable, losing to lowly North by four points just last weekend.

Richmond will still be missing Dustin Martin and Tom Lynch this week, and without that pair their ability to hit the scoreboard is greatly diminished.

While Fremantle are the road side, they will take some comfort from their terrific record interstate this season, with five wins and only two losses, with only the unbeaten Demons boasting a better record across state lines.

The Dockers are coming off a loss to Sydney, but in the Swans present form that is no disgrace. Freo will welcome back key defender Alex Pearce, and are very close to a full strength side.

One area where Fremantle have a clear edge is in running out games. They are a perfect 11-0 when leading at three quarter time this season, whereas the Tigers are 9-5 – and only Adelaide, West Coast and North have a worse record when leading at the final break.

Back the Dockers in for another road win.

Fremantle H2H, A. Brayshaw 25+ Disposals, N. Vlastuin 20+ Disposals, G. Logue 1+ Goals

Brayshaw was quiet last week against the Swans but should be able to bounce back against a side that concedes possessions at a higher rate. Vlastuin has had 20 or more in every game except one this season, where he had 19.

With Rory Lobb out and Alex Pearce back for the Dockers, Griffin Logue should be playing forward this week.

Value Bet

Andrew Brayshaw
35+ Disposals

Brayshaw had only 20 against the Swans last week but cleared the 35 mark in three of his five previous games. The Tigers concede disposals at a high enough rate to make this total a real possibility.
