Port showed last week they are capable of smacking inferior teams at home, putting Essendon away by 63 points in a commanding display. This looks like another golden opportunity at Adelaide Oval.

Expect some natural comedown from West Coast after their stirring comeback win over North Melbourne, and the Eagles will also be dealing with the unusual circumstance of a 9:30am start Perth time, which is unlikely to help their preparation.

Port are missing Marshall, Bergman and Rozee, which is a significant blow, but the inclusions of Lachie Jones and Will Brodie at least add experience to offset those losses.

The pre-season form line is also worth noting. These teams met in February with Port winning by 73 points, with Mitch Georgiades kicking six that day. West Coast have also lost seven of eight at Adelaide Oval by 40 points or more.

West Coast couldn’t handle Nick Larkey last week and Mitch Georgiades is an equally dangerous proposition. He kicked 3.5 against the Eagles last time these teams met in the regular season and bagged six in the pre-season clash.

Will Brodie makes his Power debut and with the midfield thinned by injuries, he should see plenty of time through the middle and rack up the touches accordingly. He averaged over 25 touches per game for Freo in his best season back in 2022.

Corey Durdin has kicked two goals in each of his two games this season and should find the going easier against a West Coast backline already under pressure.

Georgiades kicked six against West Coast in the pre-season and the Eagles have already conceded six to Nick Larkey and five to Ben King this season. Their key defender stocks are clearly a problem and Georgiades is as dangerous a forward as they will face all year. If Port get on a roll early, this could be a very big day for him.
