North have a good record at Marvel Stadium, and that should be enough to keep them competitive in this one.

While the Roos haven’t been winning many games, they’ve shown signs of improvement, especially at this venue, where they’ve covered the line in seven of their last eight matches.

Alastair Clarkson’s side pushed what now looks like a strong Bulldogs outfit last week, but wasteful kicking proved costly. The final margin of 16 points flattered the Dogs, with expected scoring suggesting the gap should have been just four points.

Melbourne were impressive in tough conditions against the Giants, falling just three points short. However, they’ll be missing a few more key players this week, with Caleb Windsor and Aiden Johnson, who looks a promising VFL recruit, joining Steven May, Kysaiah Pickett and Judd McVee on the sidelines. The Roos will be without Griffin Logue and Jackson Archer in defence.

Interestingly, the Demons will field more players with under 100 games experience than North, meaning there’s little in the way of an experience advantage for the visitors. As long as the Roos can hold their own in the midfield battle, they should be able to keep this within three goals.
