AFL Tips – North Melbourne v Hawthorn – Round 18 2023

North Melbourne host Hawthorn at Marvel on Sunday with both teams firmly entrenched in the bottom four. We’ll need to find a bet to get through this one.

We should at least see plenty of goals in this one.

Both of these teams have defied their ladder position with their scoring over the last few months with the Hawks ranked fifth for points scored at 88 per game since Round 10 and the Roos 13th at 75 per game.

Things aren’t so rosy on the defensive end, however, with the Roos conceding 105 points per game since Round 10 (ranked 16th) and the Hawks 85 per game (ranked 15th). The return of James Sicily should help Hawthorn tighten up down back but there’s no magic bullet for North, who have lost Griffin Logue to an ACL rupture.

Eight straight North games have gone over the total as have the last seven games overall at Marvel Stadium.

For the sake of anyone who consciously sits through this one, hopefully the handbrake is released on both teams and we see a Sunday shootout.

Same Game Multi

Over 171.5 Points, N.Larkey & L.Bruest 2+ Goals, J.Stephenson & F.Greene Anytime Goal, J.Sicily 25+ Disposals

Nick Larkey remains an outside chance for the Coleman and has kicked 2+ in ten straight games while Jaidyn Stephenson has a goal in eight of his last nine games.

Luke Breust has a great record against North, kicking 2+ in six of his last eight while Fergus Greene has kicked four in his last two games.

James Sicily has racked up 25+ in four straight and 30+ in his last three.

Value Bet

Luke McDonald
25+ Disposals

Jack Ziebell was named sub last week which left Luke McDonald to gobble up his possessions, racking up 10 in the opening quarter. Ziebell was subbed on in after the first quarter which saw McDonald’s output lessen but he still reached 25. If Ziebell is again named sub then McDonald should attract plenty of ball.
