The numbers all point to a low-scoring clash at the ’G on Sunday.
Late autumn and early winter is the incredible time to back the under at the MCG. The warm weather is gone, the games become more contested and markets are slow to adjust.
Since 2021, 84% of games at the MCG between Rounds 10 and 14 have gone under the total, averaging just 146 points. That includes Melbourne games, where seven of eight have gone under at an average of 137. The last six games at the ground have all gone under.
Both teams are struggling up forward. Melbourne are the lowest scoring team of 2025, averaging only 70 points. Sydney sit 12th at 79 points per game.
Dean Cox has had to patch together a forward line with McDonald, Amartey and Papley all missing significant time. Even Aaron Francis, who had filled a role up forward, is out this week.
Eleven of the last 14 between these teams have gone under. Expect another low total here.

Melbourne MCG games in the middle third of the season (Rounds 9-16) average just 135 points since 2021. With both sides struggling forward of centre, this could be a real grind.
