This has been one of the most lopsided rivalries in the sport for years, but that could change here.
Melbourne haven’t lost to Gold Coast since Round 5, 2014, a dominant streak spanning 12 games with an average winning margin of 49 points.
But streaks are made to be broken, and the same long-standing issues continue to haunt the Dees in 2025—poor ball use, a lack of speed, and a popgun forward line that has managed just 66 and 74 points in the opening two rounds.
Those weaknesses were brutally exposed by North Melbourne last week, and the Suns, who looked a far sharper outfit in their 87-point demolition of West Coast in Perth, should be primed to capitalise coming off a bye.
Same Game Multi
Noah Anderson has started 2025 on fire, racking up 36 and 30 in his two games. Jack Viney has had 20+ in seven straight against the Suns.
Melbourne struggled to defend medium forwards Paul Curtis and Cam Zurhaar last week. Ben Long kicked four in Round 1 against the Eagles and should be good for a couple here.
Value Bet
The Dees have run right out of gas in both of their games this year, scoring just eight points in each of their final quarters.
