The Swans should be far too strong when they meet the Hawks on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.
Best Bet
Hawthorn finally got in the winners list in 2024 when beating North Melbourne last weekend but Sydney represent a far tougher test.
The are 5-1 to start the season and while their loss did come at the MCG, they also boast a win over the reigning premiers here.
Sydney are a top tier team firmly in the premiership window. They are long on class and experience, with only two players with less than 50 games experience, compared to the Hawks who have eleven.
The move of Isaac Heeney into the midfield has been a masterstroke, and alongside Errol Gulden and Chad Warner, he ranks in the top eleven players for inside 50s. Simply put, the Swans best players are getting the ball where they can do the most damage.
The Swans dominated the Suns for four quarters last week, a side that like Hawthorn is very much in the rebuilding phase. They boast thumping wins over the Hawks in each of the last two years, by 81 last year and 41 in 2022.
Expect a comfortable Swans victory on Sunday.
Same Game Multi
The Hawks like to employ a tagger and it could be Isaac Heeney who gets the Finn Maginness treatment this week, so we’ll leave out the Swans star.
Errol Gulden’s hard running and endurance is well suited to the wide open expanses of the MCG. He’s had 25 in his last three games.
Hawthorn’s Karl Amon and Jack Scrimshaw both handle plenty of footy in the defensive half and should see enough of the ball in this game.
Value Bet
The Swans are a clear class above the Hawks and have cleared the 40 mark in their last two meetings.
