AFL Tips – Hawthorn v Geelong – Round 3 2024

Despite the rain forecast Geelong should comfortably account for the Hawks on Easter Monday at the MCG.

Best Bet

Geelong -15.5
Line

Geelong have been red hot to start 2024 and can get another win over the Hawks.

The Cats might not be up there with the elite teams in the league but they showed with wins over the Saints and Crows that they will be a force to be reckoned with once again this year.

They actually lost the midfield battle against the Crows last week but such is their strength at either end of the ground that they could do so and still win comfortably anyway.

Enough has been said and written about Tom Stewart but he is far from alone with plenty of experience alongside of him.

This is a worry for a Hawthorn side that could only score five goals last week against a Melbourne side that lost Steven May and Jake Lever with injury.

The Hawks ball movement was really poor and their high possession style isn’t going to cut it against these Cats.

Geelong’s class and lack of depth in the middle without Dangerfield is a concern, but against a side that is struggling like Hawthorn, they should have too much talent at either end of the ground.

Same Game Multi

Cats -15.5, Bruhn 20+, Kolodjashnij, Guthrie 15+ Disposals

I think the Cats defenders should see plenty of possessions in this one. Tom Stewart is the obvious one but suspect the Hawks will try and play a defensive forward to try and negate his influence.

Jake Kolodjashnij and Zach Guthrie look nice bets for 15 or more.

Tanner Bruhn had 20 disposals in only 65% game time in Round 2, he should see more minutes with Dangerfield out of the side.

Keep an eye on the weather but if it is bucketing down from the start of the game this is well and truly on the cards.
