AFL Tips – GWS Giants v Geelong – Round 8 2022

Geelong should bounce back from their loss to Fremantle with a comfortable win in Canberra.

Best Bet

Geelong -2.5 ($1.90)

The Cats are a dangerous side off a loss and will have too much quality for the Giants this Saturday.

Geelong were stunned by the rising Dockers at home last weekend, but they have covered the line in 17 of 24 off a loss, including their last 4 and last 3 interstate.

The oldest list in the AFL reverted to their stagnant ball movement in the face of Fremantle’s outstanding defensive structure last week. They shouldn’t have the same issue against the 13th ranked defence in GWS.

Most alarming for the Giants is their putrid record at Manuka. They have lost their last four there by an average of 37 points. They’ve covered in 2 of their last 9 at the venue.

Leon Cameron’s team are also shocking to back coming off a win, only clearing the line in 7 of their last 22 – the worst in the AFL over the last three seasons.

Back the experienced Cats to get back on the winner’s list in Canberra.

Same Game Multi

Geelong -2.5 / Joel Selwood &. Tom Stewart 20+ Disposals / L.Whitfield Anytime Goal ($5.00)

Joel Selwood has had 20+ touches in every game while Tom Stewart has in 6 of 7 games this year. He’s also coming off a career-best 40 touches last week.

Lachie Whitfield spent 91% of his game forward last week and kicked three goals. He’s great value for a goal or two next week as the markets are yet to properly react to his position change.

Value Bet

Geelong 40+ Points ($6.25)

We know the Giants are an unreliable betting proposition, are terrible in Canberra and are capable of giving up a big defeat, going down to the Dees by 67 points just three weeks ago.

A big win over an ordinary team in Adelaide has them far too short in this market and makes a 40+ win for Geelong terrific value.
