ANZAC Day football heads to Canberra for the first time when the Giants host the Lions at Manuka Oval.
Best Bet
The Giants are clearly playing the better football of these two sides and should be a strong favourite to beat the disappointing Lions.
Last year’s Grand Finalist have clearly had a decent hangover from their appearance in the decider as they have limped to a 2-4 start, with wins coming over only a very disappointing Melbourne side and North.
Last week’s loss to the Cats was particularly disappointing and the five day backup off a game played in tough conditions is a further concern.
The Lions are doing a lot right, but their issues have primarily been in the forward line. Joe Daniher, Eric Hipwood and Charlie Cameron have been well and truly out of form.
The Giants are missing some key personnel here, with Toby Greene, Sam Taylor and Stephen Coniglio sitting in the stands. But their depth is as good as any team in the league, and Jesse Hogan getting a reprisal at the tribunal is all important.
They had their first loss last week against the Blues, but up to that point they had been the in-form side in the league.
GWS can bounce back hard here.
Same Game Multi
Josh Kelly had 41 disposals when these teams met last time and is seeing more midfield time with Stephen Coniglio out.
Callan Ward’s numbers have been down but he is seeing plenty of midfield use and is capable of a big spike here.
With Toby Greene out, Jesse Hogan will need to kick at least a couple for the Giants to win here. Young forward Aaron Cadman has a goal in every game this year.
Value Bet
Highly touted youngster Cadman is starting to find his feet at senior level and should get his chance to kick a few here. Looks a big price.
