The Eagles are shockingly chasing a third-straight win when they travel across the country to face the Suns.
Best Bet
The Suns are a completely different side at home and they should account for a West Coast team missing a couple of key players.
Gold Coast have covered the spread in five of their last six at home and their last eight at home following a loss. They’ve won three of four at Carrara this year by an average margin of 33 points, only falling to the rampaging Giants.
The Eagles deserve credit for their more competitive start to 2024, but wins over an injury-afflicted Richmond and a Fremantle team who refuse to even attempt to score aren’t cause for cartwheels.
Their improvement has been in part to due their much improved player availability, particularly with their star players, but as we’ve seen in previous years, there is no depth on this list once a few gun players miss. That will be the case this week with Tom Barrass and Harley Reid out so expect the Suns’ twin towers of Ben King and Jed Walter to cash in up forward in Barrass’ absence.
Take the Suns to continue their great home form.
Same Game Multi
Ben King is playing much better footy at home, kicking 4+ in three of his last four on the Gold Coast.
Jed Walter has kicked 3.2 in his two games at home and will get a great opportunity for a breakout game.
Elliot Yeo has been brilliant this season, racking up 25+ in each of his last five.
Value Bet
Not a whole lot of value about in this match-up but Waterman has been a star for the Eagles this year and has kicked 11 goals in his last two games.
