The Blues can go 4-0 for the first time since 1995.
Best Bet
Carlton -8.5 ($1.90)
Carlton has the midfield power to nullify the Gold Coast’s main strength – Touk Miller and company’s ability to win the footy at the contest.
The Blues have been brilliant when it comes to winning contested footy and clearances, led by captain Patrick Cripps.
They are number one in the league for contested possession differential and also lead the league in scores from clearance, compared to their opponents.
While the Gold Coast have been very good at the contest this season, they were nullified somewhat by the Giants last week as Touk Miller was effectively tagged by Lachie Ash.
It would not surprise at all if the Blues sent George Hewett to Miller in an effort to blanket the Gold Coast superstar.
Charlie Ballard and Sam Collins have been very effective in the key defensive posts for Gold Coast, but they will have their work cut out against Carlton’s key forwards Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow.
Expect the Blues to cover the small line here and go 4-0 for the first time since the flag winning year of 1995.
Same Game Multi
Carlton -8.5 / J. Silvagni, L. Casboult 1+ Goal / S. Walsh 25+ Disposals ($4.33)
Casboult has had multiple goals in every game this season while Silvagni has five in the last two weeks. Walsh has had 34 and 32 in two games since missing Round 1.
Value Bet
Jack Silvagni 3+ Goals ($8.00)
Silvagni has had two and three in the last fortnight. With the Gold Coast having some quality in the key defensive posts, it might open up some opportunities for the Blues number one.
