The Dogs are the right side to back with the start here.
Certain teams play well at GMHBA Stadium and the Bulldogs are one of them. They have won two of their last three there against the Cats in Geelong and are one of only two teams, along with the Giants, to win multiple games at the ground since 2021.
The gap in the market likely reflects the Dogs’ injury concerns, but Geelong are not the team to capitalise on Tim English’s absence. Mitch Edwards remains well short of AFL ruck standard at this point, and assuming Rory Lobb takes the majority of centre bounces he should hold his own. Ed Richards is a chance to play while Tom Liberatore is a guaranteed in. Patrick Dangerfield and Mark Blicavs returning for Geelong.
Geelong’s home record against quality opposition is another concern. The Cats have covered in just four of their last 11 games at home against top-eight teams.
Back the Dogs to remain close.
Same Game Multi
Shannon Neale kicked five last time against the Bulldogs and with Lobb spending time in the ruck, the Dogs’ defence could be undersized at key moments. Aaron Naughton has kicked 13 goals in the last three weeks and five combined in his last two games against Geelong.
Tanner Bruhn is averaging 24.8 disposals this season and should rack up plenty again.
Value Bet
Neale dominated this match-up last year with five goals and the conditions are again favourable. With Lobb spending time in the ruck, the Dogs’ defence will be stretched and Neale already has two bags of four or more in 2026. This could be the third.
