The much improved Tigers can win again.
Best Bet
Richmond’s drastic improvement in clearances has sparked their brilliant run of form and this advantage can prove decisive against the Cats.
While the Tigers only rank 13th in clearance differential for the year, their performance in this area has improved dramatically in recent weeks.
Last week they dominated the second best clearance side in the competition, Carlton, winning clearances 41 to 28. The Tigers won inside 50s by 76 to 51 as a result.
In the round 1 game against the same side, they lost clearances 40 to 22, and lost the inside 50 count 64 to 40.
When you pair this improved clearance game to a potent forward line, which the Tigers now have with Tom Lynch back to full health, Richmond will prove awfully tough for any team to deal with.
The Tigers have been dominant at the MCG this year, winning seven of nine and covering a remarkable eight times from nine appearances.
Two extra days rest for the Tigers will only help, especially given the Cats are on a seven day turnaround from a tougher than expected match in Perth against the Eagles.
