It’s Geelong’s turn to demolish the Kangaroos this week at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Best Bet
Poor North.
The Kangas have been awful to start 2024 but to be fair, they’ve had perhaps the worst possible draw for a team with terrible key defensive stocks, facing GWS, Carlton, Brisbane and now Geelong in their opening five weeks.
This, again, will be ugly.
The Cats of 2022 are back with Chris Scott’s team 4-0 and playing some brilliant footy. Despite sitting last for clearance differential, their defensive strength and efficient forward line is delivering big time.
That forward line would be giving Alastair Clarkson nightmares this week. The Roos have so far conceded bags of goals to Joe Daniher (5.4), Harry McKay (5), Charlie Curnow (4) and Jesse Hogan (6).
North’s record at Kardinia Park is horrid, covering in one of their last five and losing by an average of 49 points. The Cats have covered in six of eight down the highway when favoured by 50+ points.
This has blowout written all over it.
Same Game Multi
Tom Hawkins has kicked 3+ in his last three against North and Tyson Stengle has kicked 2+ in his last three against them too.
Ollie Henry has stepped up this year with eight goals in his last three games.
Harry Sheezel has had 30+ in each of his games this year and takes the majority of North’s kick-ins. He could be a very busy boy.
Value Bets
There’s no value in Cameron, who has not kicked more than two goals in a game this year and is roaming up the field more.
There’s definitely value in Hawkins for five or six. He’s kicked 4+ in two of his last three against North.
Ollie Henry will be an awkward match-up too and he could fill his boots.
The Roos kicked 42 points against Brisbane last week on a similarly narrow Norwood Oval. They’ve failed to score 40 points in two of their last four visits to the Cattery.
