Trips to GMHBA Stadium are usually one of the toughest assignments in the competition, but Fremantle have handled the challenge well in recent seasons.
The Dockers have covered the line in six of their last eight visits to Geelong and have won two of their past three at the venue. They have consistently been able to remain competitive in a ground where many sides struggle badly.
Geelong also looked below their best last week against Gold Coast. The Cats were competitive around the contest, winning clearances by seven, but were completely dominated in territory, losing the inside 50 count 71–50.
Jeremy Cameron and Patrick Dangerfield are expected to return but may be underdone, while James Worpel is set to miss, which leaves Geelong slightly vulnerable against a strong Fremantle midfield group.
The Dockers enter the season in relatively good health, although Hayden Young remains a query and Brennan Cox will miss. With Fremantle expected to push for a top four spot in 2026, they should be capable of producing a competitive performance here.
Same Game Multi
Caleb Serong may attract some defensive attention from the Cats, which could leave Andrew Brayshaw with more freedom around the ball. Brayshaw has recorded 25 or more disposals in four of his past five matches against Geelong.
Ollie Dempsey trained through the midfield over summer and should spend time around the contest with James Worpel absent and both Dangerfield and Cameron returning to the forward line.
Murphy Reid rounds out the multi after kicking a goal in 10 of his past 12 matches.
Value Bet
Fremantle’s recent record in Geelong suggests they should again be competitive here, having won two of their past three matches at GMHBA Stadium.
After Geelong’s flat start to the season against the Suns, Fremantle look a genuine chance of causing an upset, albeit by a narrow margin.
