Fremantle host the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night at Optus Stadium. Both sides enter at 3-3 and have been highly inconsistent to start the year.
Best Bet
Fremantle’s scoring woes continue and until they are solved they are going to struggle to win games.
It’s a conscious choice by Dockers coach Justin Longmuir and not only does it make for boring games, their results of late have been poor.
Freo have failed to kick more than ten goals in their last four outings and the fact they were held to ten by their cross town rivals last week is a real concern.
The Dogs have shown to be vulnerable against teams that move the ball well like Geelong and Melbourne – even Essendon – but Freo are not in that category.
The Dogs are 3-3 on the season but their three wins have been dominant, they could easily have beaten the Cats and their loss against the Bombers wasn’t as bad as the score suggests.
Freo’s path to victory is generally to dominate teams in clearances – they rank number one for differential – but that’s a hard task against a Dogs midfield that has plenty of class and regains Tom Liberatore for this clash.
If the Dogs manage to get an even split out of the middle – or anything close – they’ll win this game.
Same Game Multi
Luke Ryan was quiet for the Dockers last week but should bounce back here. He had 30 and 24 when these sides met last year. Caleb Serong has had 25 or more in every game.
Patrick Voss is playing his first game for the Dockers replacing Jye Amiss. He comes off three goals in the WAFL last week.
Value Bet
It seems Jamarra Ugle-Hagan being absent for the Dogs helped Naughton last week as he bagged six. With Jamarra on the sidelines again and the Dockers lacking scoring power, Naughton looks a great bet in this market.
