This has the makings of a blowout.

Fremantle are 5-2 against the line at Optus Stadium against the Bulldogs. The Dogs have won seven of their last nine, but the two defeats came by 35 points and 57 points. They haven’t been losing narrowly.

The divergent fates of each team’s key forwards will tell the story here.

Aaron Naughton has been ruled out, managed for the trip west after weeks of soreness. He has kicked 42 goals this season and had been leading the forward line on his own with Sam Darcy sidelined, so the Dogs land in Perth without either primary key forward.

They are also the fourth worst side in the competition at conceding goals to tall forwards. Jye Amiss, Josh Treacy and Patrick Voss could dine out on O’Donnell and Busslinger.
