The numbers are stacked against the Suns heading into their first AFL final.

Gold Coast have failed to cover the line in 16 of their last 17 matches as an away underdog, 13 of 16 away after a home win, and seven of nine away after a bye.

They have also struggled against quality opposition this season, covering in just three of 11 games against top eight teams, while Fremantle have covered in six of ten.

The Dockers enter their first finals series in three years full of confidence after a comfortable win over the Bulldogs in what was effectively an elimination final. They have lost just two games since Round 9, one to Brisbane and one to Sydney at the SCG.

Fremantle also have a strong record against the Suns, winning 10 of 15 overall and covering in four of the last five overall and four of the last five at home.

The only clash between these teams this year ended in an 11-point Dockers win on the Gold Coast in heavy conditions, and similar weather could play a role on Saturday with rain forecast in Perth.
