AFL Tips – Collingwood v Port Adelaide – Round 1 2025

The Pies will be looking to bounce back from a flat start against Port Adelaide on Saturday night at the MCG.

Best Bet

Collingwood -7.5
Margin

Collingwood were flat in their season opener against GWS, but they should bounce back here.

The Pies looked every bit the AFL’s oldest team last week, but they’ll be boosted by Dan Houston’s inclusion and (hopefully) a full game from Nick Daicos.

Despite the 52-point loss, the numbers suggest it should’ve been closer, with Collingwood winning clearances, contested ball, and inside 50s. GWS’s defensive setup was simply elite once the ball entered the Pies’ forward line. Expected score had the margin at just 15 points.

That’s unlikely to be the case against Port, who will be missing the aforementioned Houston for the first time, Zerk-Thatcher and Ratugolea in defence, and their captain Zak Butters.

Collingwood have won their last four against Port, and covered the line in their last six as favourites against them, and should get their first win of the year here.

Same Game Multi

Collingwood -7.5, J.Daicos 25+ Disposals, Mihocek 2+ Goals

Josh Daicos is always a great bet on the expansive MCG and has had 25+ in four straight games.

As below, Miohocek has a great record against Port. He’s booted 2+ in seven of his last eight against Ken Hinkley’s team.

Value Bet

Brody Mihocek
3+ Goals

Mihocek has a great record against Port, kicking 3+ in three of his last four games against them.
