This is a nasty match-up for the struggling Magpies.

Collingwood have now dropped five of their last six, with their only win in that stretch coming against the lowly Tigers. The underdog has covered in all six.

Their turnover game has completely fallen apart. After sitting top four for scores from turnover across the first two-thirds of the season, the Pies rank 16th in the same category over the last five games. Melbourne sit fifth.

The Dees were stifled last week by a defensively strong Hawthorn, but their form prior to that was sound. They smashed the Eagles and Roos and lost to the Dogs, Saints, Blues and Crows by an average margin of just 5.75 points. These teams also met on King’s Birthday, with the margin only three points.

Melbourne’s new interim coach has introduced a more attacking style, which could further expose Collingwood’s fragile backline. The Dees are averaging 99 points per game over the last five, ranked fifth, while the Pies only average 65, ranked equal fourth-worst.
