AFL Tips – Collingwood v Gold Coast Suns – Round 7 2022

The Pies can make it three on the trot this Sunday at the MCG.

Best Bet

Collingwood -11.5 ($1.90)

The Pies hold a good record over Gold Coast and should cover a two-goal line this week.

The Suns broke through for a win over Collingwood last year but it was one-way traffic prior to that. The Magpies won the six prior matches and covered in five of those six wins. The average winning margin was 42.5 points.

Collingwood continue to impress this season, sitting 8th with a 3-3 record and a percentage of 108. Their shock loss to West Coast in Round 4 is looking more and more like an anomaly given their narrow loss to the Lions in Brisbane and win over Essendon on ANZAC Day since.

Gold Coast tend to fall away after Rounds 1-4, where they cover at 65%, as opposed to the rest of the season, where they only clear the start at 39%. Until they can prove they can remain competitive well into a season, they will remain a poor betting prospect.

Brodie Grundy is a loss for Collingwood, but he is hardly the player he was a few seasons ago. The Pies have too much quality and experience across the park and should comfortably cover the line here.

Same Game Multi

Collingwood -11.5 / B.Mihocek 2+ Goals / L.Casbault Anytime Goal / N.Daicos 20+ Disposals ($4.75)

Brody Mihocek continues to deliver for punters, kicking 4, 2, 2, 1 and 3 from his five games in 2022. With Nathan Kroeger out for the season with a shoulder injury, expect even more footy to be directed Mihocek’s way.

Levi Casbault has scored at least a goal in each game and kicked three last week.

Nick Daicos has cleared 20 disposals in every game.

Value Bet

Jack Ginnivan 3+ Goals ($3.75)

The young Magpie was simply brilliant on ANZAC Day, kicking five goals and winning the medal for best on ground. He gets a great match-up here for another big game with Gold Coast conceding bags to small forwards Zac Bailey (5 goals), Charlie Cameron (4) and Jack Higgins (5) in the last two weeks.
