The Blues should be too good for an out of sorts Port Adelaide.
Best Bet
Carlton -9.5 ($1.90)
The Power welcomes back some key personnel but it will not be enough against a Blues side which can bounce back from a disappointing showing last week.
Carlton has generally been a good betting proposition at the MCG, covering at a 70% clip in the last five years. That has been true both as favourites and outsiders, having covered five of seven as the punters elect.
Port Adelaide will take solace from their excellent head to head record against the Blues and it is a genuine concern. The Power have won the last six against Carlton.
However, the Port Adelaide team we have seen this year is a shadow of its former self. They are a mess in attack and can’t get things together in defence either.
The omissions of Patrick Cripps and Ollie Wines largely cancel each other out although Cripps ability to hit the scoreboard will be missed.
Despite that, the Blues should be able to cover a low number at a venue where they have an excellent record.
Same Game Multi
Carlton -9.5 / Boak, Hewett 25+ Disposals / McKay 2+ Goals ($4.00)
Boak has been a bright spot in a dismal Power team while Hewett should only step up in the absence of Cripps. Big Harry has kicked two or more in his last three games and loves the MCG.
Value Bet
Carlton 40+ ($5.00)
Port were flattered by the scoreline last week against the Dees and the Blues have shown the ability to pile on scores against bad teams this season.
