AFL Tips – Bulldogs v Essendon – Round 7 2022

The Western Bulldogs have an outstanding record against Essendon.

Best Bet

Bulldogs -17.5 ($1.90)

The Bulldogs have had a disappointing start to the season but getting to play against their favourite whipping boys, the Bombers, should see them get back on track.

The Dogs have won seven of the last eight games between these sides and the average margin of victory has been 53 points. They have covered in nine of the last eleven.

One of Essendon’s main problems this season has been defence. They concede a goal from 28.4% of opponents inside 50s, the highest rate in the league.

There are more problems than that though. The Bombers butcher the footy going inside 50, which makes it easy for defenders. They then struggle to defend the opposition taking the ball end to end.

The Dogs showed on Good Friday against the Roos that they are still capable of piling on the points against bad sides. The Bombers are a bad side.

Same Game Multi

Dogs -17.5 / M.Bontempelli 20+ Disposals / T.Liberatore, J.Macrae 25+ Disposals ($4.50)

The Dogs have been sharing the load in the middle this season. It hasn’t worked. Expect Libba and Bont to see plenty of midfield minutes this week as Luke Beveridge tries to get his team back on track.

Value Bet

Cody Weightman 3+ Goals ($3.40)

When the Dogs play well, Weightman usually hits the scoreboard. He has had five and three in their two wins this season.
