AFL Tips – Brisbane v Collingwood – Round 3 2024

Brisbane Lions vs Collingwood Magpies - AFL Tips

There is only one way to bet the Grand Final rematch, which will take place on Thursday night at the Gabba.

Best Bet

Over 164.5
Total Match Points

The over in this game is one of the best bets of the season.

Both teams have been extremely poor defensively thus far in 2024.

The Pies have allowed 114, 102 and 94 points in their three games to date. The Lions have allowed 86 and 83, and it’s testament to their defensive struggles that in both games they allowed the opposition to kick eight goals straight.

There is also a long history of games between these two sides hitting the over, not least the Grand Final. These teams met three times in 2023, for scores of 199, 224 and 176 (Grand Final). All three hit the over.

Brisbane is also looking increasingly depleted in defence. They have lost Conor McKenna and Keidean Coleman to injury, while Tom Doedee has sadly injured his ACL again.

That is a real concern against the Pies small brigade, which have a good record anyway against the Lions in recent times.

While there has been rain in Queensland this week, perfect conditions are expected at the Gabba on Thursday night.

It should make for plenty of points.

Same Game Multi

Over 164.5, Cameron, Daniher, Hill 2+ Goals

Naturally with our expectation on the over the goalkickers are the logical way to bet this one.

Charlie Cameron had 13 goals in his three games against the Pies last year and no doubt will have circled this fixture a long way out, while Joe Daniher had multiple snags in all three games.

Norm Smith Medallist Bobby Hill has begun 2024 in good form and should be good for a couple of snags again.

Value Bet

Over 198.5

There is ample precedent for high scoring games between these two sides and neither team has been better defensively in 2024.
