The numbers suggest this will remain close.
The Lions just don’t punish teams they are expected to beat. They have covered the line in only 3 of 16 games as 16-plus point favourites and in just 2 of 13 as home favourites.
The Giants have an excellent record in Brisbane, covering the line in 9 of their last 10 against the reigning premiers at the Gabba and winning six, including their most recent meeting last year. The away team has covered the line in 15 of the last 17 clashes between these sides.
GWS were poor last week against Port Adelaide, but as mentioned in that preview, the expansion side have a terrible record in Canberra. A return to a venue where they have a strong record is enough to give them the edge.
Same Game Multi
Steering clear of Neale and McCluggage as one is likely to get the Bedford tag.
Lachie Ash has had 25+ in 11 straight games, while Will Ashcroft has had 25+ in each of his last seven.
Jake Ricciardi has kicked eight in his past three games.
Value Bet
On form, you’d expect Brisbane to be too good here but with the Giants’ good record at the Gabba it could be a narrow margin.
