The Crows have cooled off a touch offensively over the last month but this shapes as a golden chance for a big win.
Adelaide have shown no mercy to West Coast recently, winning their last two home games against them by 99 and 122 points. When they’ve taken control this season they’ve finished the job, with four of their six wins coming by 60 points or more.
Their scoring has dipped over the last five weeks to an average of 68 points per game, but that stretch has included clashes with Collingwood, Fremantle, Carlton and GWS, plus the always-intense Showdown.
West Coast finally got their first win of the season last week over St Kilda, but an emotional drop-off is likely. They’ve struggled away from Perth, covering in just six of their last 16 interstate games, and have a poor record against top eight teams, covering in five of 13.
The Saints didn’t have the key forwards to trouble an undermanned Eagles defence without Jeremy McGovern, but Adelaide do. If Thilthorpe, Fogarty and Walker get enough supply, a huge total is on the cards.
The Crows have covered the line in four straight against West Coast and will win this by as much as they feel like.
Same Game Multi
Goals for Adelaide’s star forwards is the obvious angle here. The Fog has kicked 3+ in seven of eight games against teams ranked lower, Riley Thilthorpe has kicked 2+ in 12 of 17 and Izak Rankine has kicked 2+ in 7 of 10 at home.
