AFL Tips – Adelaide v Melbourne – Round 4 2024

Gather Round kicks off with the Crows hosting the Demons on Thursday night at the Adelaide Oval. The home side will be desperate for a win having lost all three games to open the season.

Best Bet

Melbourne -6.5
Line

Adelaide have been extremely poor to kick off this season and it’s hard to see them troubling the Demons even with home ground advantage.

The Dees were lucky to beat Port last week but what was promising from their point of view was their efficiency going forward. The Dees were much more precise with their ball movement inside 50 and had ten individual goal scorers.

The Adelaide Oval has become something of a home away from home for the Dees, having now won eleven of seventeen games and covered in twelve at the vene.

The Crows might fancy themselves to win the midfield battle in this one but their ball movement has been nothing short of woeful, meaning that even when they do get possession they aren’t hurting their opponents with it.

Adelaide rank third last in the competition for turnover differential, only behind the Eagles and Roos. It’s not a good place to be, and a weakness that the Dees are well placed to exploit.

Melbourne welcome back Steven May for this one and while they have lost Marty Hore with injury there is no shortage of depth in the Dees backline.

Expect the Demons to win this comfortably.

Same Game Multi

Demons -6.5, Crouch 30+, Rivers 20+ Disposals

Matt Crouch has been a prolific ball winner for the Crows, with 98 disposals across his first three games.

Trent Rivers is coming off a career best performance against the Power and is clearly more of a designated ball user out of the backline.

Value Bets

Bayley Fritsch
Most Goals

Taylor Walker is in for a tough night on Steven May which should open things up in the most game goals market. Fritsch didn’t have a great game last week but kicked two important goals and comes off a bag of five the week before.
